Emberfall Chronicle
Emberfall Chronicle is the RPG I keep recommending to friends who miss console-style party games on the go. You assemble a squad of four, each with distinct roles, and fights play out in clean turn-based rounds where positioning and element weaknesses matter more than raw levels.
The story actually earns its cutscenes. There's a slow-burn plot about a fading world and a group of misfits who don't fully trust each other, and the writing has real personality. Progression is skill-tree based, so you make choices instead of just watching numbers climb.
My one complaint is the early tutorial drags. Push through the first two chapters and it opens into something genuinely engaging. Battery drain is noticeable during big fights, so play plugged in for boss runs.
What we liked
- Tactical turn-based combat
- Party members with distinct kits
- Story that respects your attention
